We are hiring an Alumni Engagement Manager!

The mission of the SUNY Orange Foundation is to raise and distribute funds, build a strong alumni network, and foster lasting ties to our community in order to expand opportunities and support the success of SUNY Orange students. In support of this mission, the Foundation seeks to hire a Manager of Alumni Engagement.
The Manager of Alumni Engagement is a fund-raising support position that is responsible for the leadership, planning and implementation of programs, projects and events that strategically engage alumni and encourage them to financially support the college.
Specifically, this individual will secure commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer their time in support of SUNY Orange students; build solid relationships with SUNY Orange colleagues in Admissions, Career Services, Academic Affairs and Marketing to identify and maintain opportunities for alumni to engage with students; create events that will provide networking and campus-visitation opportunities for alumni and identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving. The ideal candidate will balance the implementation of creative and innovative ideas with existing and emerging programmatic needs.
The Manager of Alumni Engagement reports to the Executive Director of the SUNY Orange Foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide key leadership and direction to the Alumni Committee, arranging its meetings, identifying members and ensuring that the committee understands its goals of engaging alumni, as well as cultivating future donors within the SUNY Orange alumni community and the need for the committee to support the Foundation’s Strategic Plan efforts.

Plan, implement and promote alumni programs and events that support the SUNY Orange Foundation's strategic plan, including, but not limited to: writing and distributing alumni publications; creating and posting social media content; organizing recognition and awards ceremonies, reunions, and homecoming events; developing an alumni speaker’s bureau and alumni-student mentoring program, developing alumni career panels for academic departments; and organizing other special events and services, as required.

Develop annual strategic and operating plans to organize alumni engagement, giving, and leadership development.

Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of all alumni programs/services, identify problems, recommend improvements and institute changes.

Utilize Raiser’s Edge database to track and build alumni relationships. Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information.

Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni for the purposes of encouraging them to volunteer their time and to give back to the Foundation financially.

Build relationships with current students and foster a culture of giving back, as they prepare to join the alumni community to encourage young alumni engagement.

Partner with Admissions to ensure consistent alumni involvement in the admissions process, so as to engage students from day one.

Partner with Student Services to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni.

Collaborate closely with Foundation colleagues to increase financial support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser's Edge and attend and report these efforts at Foundation board meetings. During high-priority fundraising pushes, make individual calls and create individualized communications to encourage giving among targeted groups of alumni.

Oversee the budget for Alumni Relations, within the annual Foundation budget, and raise money for alumni events and/or special projects in collaboration with the Alumni Committee and Foundation colleagues.

Supervise and train interns (when available) and provide guidance to alumni volunteers.

Create and electronically distribute bi-monthly newsletter.

Manage Foundation social media platforms.

Serve as a resource to alumni and others regarding College programs and activities

Attend Foundation board meetings and provide a verbal and written report of alumni activities.

Attend Foundation Marketing Committee meetings, special events planning meetings and other Foundation meetings as required.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED:

Experience in developing relationships and engaging others with a worthy cause, with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues, alumni, other constituents and the public.

Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.

Ability to design and write promotional material.

Ability to develop, prepare, and deliver effective education programs, seminars and workshops relating to Alumni Relations.

Ability to develop alumni chapters (future strategic plan goal).

Strong database management skills and ability to produce detailed quantitative reports regarding alumni engagement, volunteerism, event attendance, and annual giving.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Experience with Raiser's Edge database preferred.

Associates degree required, Bachelors preferred.

SUNY Orange alum preferred.
